17th of November is established as World Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD) Day since 2002, in order to raise awareness and communicate knowledge and ways to reduce burden of disease worldwide.

This year’s theme chosen by the Global Initiative for Chronic Obstructive Lung Disease (GOLD) is “Healthy Lungs – Never More Important” and is aimed to highlight that, despite of the COVID-19 pandemic, the burden of COPD remains.

GOLD has published an article dedicated to this year’s theme here.
